Biden Administration Asked Amazon to Censor These Books

President Joe Biden’s administration urged Amazon to restrict books about vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic, which one author equated to ‘modern-day book burning.’

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, uncovered internal Amazon emails revealing that the company established a ‘Do Not Promote’ category for certain vaccine-related books in March 2021 following ‘criticism from the Biden administration.’

“Do Not Promote”

These emails indicated that the White House’s dissatisfaction with ‘anti-vax’ books led to the creation of the ‘Do Not Promote’ category, effectively making the books less visible on the platform.

One of the 43 books affected was Neil Miller’s 2016 publication, ‘Miller’s Review of Critical Vaccine Studies: 400 Important Scientific Papers Summarized for Parents and Researchers.’

Modern-Day Book Burning

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Miller condemned the White House and Amazon for censoring his book.

He stated, “If my book is being censored, they are censoring medical and scientific literature. I do not agree with modern-day book burning.”

Scientific, Not Political

Miller emphasized that his book is not political but contains summaries of 400 studies from the National Library of Medicine.

He argued that Amazon’s actions, influenced by the Biden administration, aimed to control the narrative on vaccine safety because his book offered an alternative viewpoint.

Author Expresses Disagreement

Miller further asserted, “There is nothing in my book that should be feared.”

“In fact, my book should be welcome precisely because it provides information that will permit people to make more informed decisions about their health care.”

Anti-Vax Books Unpopular with The White House

Amazon’s ‘Do Not Promote’ list also included children’s books and titles questioning the influence of large pharmaceutical companies over vaccine trials.

Most books on the list expressed skepticism about vaccines.

Government Influences

Dr. Robert Sears, author of ‘The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child,’ told DailyMail.com he was unsurprised that his book was also censored.

He stated, “I was not surprised to learn our government tried to play a role in suppressing honest and open conversation about something as controversial as childhood vaccines.” Sears noted that despite government efforts, more parents are now questioning the CDC vaccine schedule.

Vaccine Laws for Children

Sears criticized the politicization of vaccines, noting that his book, first published in 2007, has no political bias.

He remarked, “While my book is completely apolitical, the topic of vaccine mandates has become a very partisan issue.” He observed that Democratic-majority states have passed mandatory vaccine laws for children, while the Republican party generally opposes such mandates.

Are the Books Controversial?

Sears also criticized the scientific community for stifling dissenting opinions about vaccines.

He stated, “If you ask most mainstream doctors and vaccine policymakers, they’ll tell you there is no controversy. The entire CDC schedule of vaccines is safe and effective as is, and there’s no reason to question it or get informed. Therefore, vaccine books aren’t even necessary. So, just by existing, my book is controversial.”

Children’s Book Also Censored

Additionally, Amber Rae Johnson’s children’s book ‘What Are Vaccines?’ was added to the ‘Do Not Promote’ list, despite promoting friendship regardless of vaccination status.

On X, Jordan denounced Amazon’s actions as unconstitutional government censorship, stating, “Under the guise of combatting ‘anti-vaccine’ misinformation, Amazon censored everything from picture books for children to books criticizing Big Pharma.”

“Government Censorship”

Jordan continued, “This is unconstitutional government censorship, full stop.”

“Whether you agree with this speech or not, free speech is free speech and the Biden Admin pressured private companies to censor constitutionally protected speech.”

Investigating Government Overeach

Jordan has been investigating government overreach since January 2023 through the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

The committee has uncovered instances of federal surveillance over bank transaction records, and tech companies like Amazon and YouTube censoring speech at the government’s request, alongside multiple whistleblower complaints.
