A California farmer is making headlines this week after making a huge statement about his support of former President Donald J. Trump.

A mile-long and half-mile-high sign reading “TRUMP” was etched into his Central Valley field. Aerial footage is drawing huge support throughout the country.

The Farm

The farm in Kings County, California, is located just south of Corcoran. It is owned by Gilkey Farm Inc.

Ralph Gilkey, a third-generation farmer, and his son spent the day mapping out the large design using a computer program to etch Trump’s name into their field.

Showing Support For His Candidate

Gilkey had previously been an avid Trump supporter and was excited about the chance to vote for the Republican again.

The large sign takes up an entire mile of their land and is visible from airplanes. Each letter is nearly 900 feet wide, showing a massive show of support for the presidential hopeful.

Historical Election Season

The 2024 presidential election has been through enough events to fill an entire history book in the last month. In the middle of July, Trump was the victim of a potential assassination attempt. However, this wasn’t nearly the biggest upset of the election season.

After current President Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed his VP, Kamala Harris, the race to the White House has been red hot ever since, causing Harris to break several firsts as a Black and Asian American candidate for president and taking in record donations.

Where the Polls Currently Stand

As it currently stands, Harris is pilling ahead by +2.7 on the national polls. Just a few months ago, Trump was the presumed front-runner, although he has quickly slipped behind following a swell of support for Harris.

However, there are several key swing states, namely Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, that are all still up for grabs.

Robert Kennedy Could Sway the Vote

Many political commentators note that independent incumbent Robert F. Kennedy takes much-needed votes away from the Republican party.

There is a small chance that Kennedy, who runs on a platform of both Democratic and Republican talking points, will drop out and boost Trump’s votes. Kennedy is currently polling close to 5%.

Outside of the large cities, some several more rural areas and farmlands vote red during federal elections, even in ultra-liberal California.

California Native Harris Could Take the State

Unfortunately for Trump supporters, California state usually swings completely blue due to highly populated Democratic-leaning cities.

Also, Harris, being a native of Oakland, a former prosecutor for the state and senator, will most likely swing a populous of voters who are excited to see the first Democratic president from California.

Trump's Takedown of Harris

Last week, during a FOX & Friends interview, Trump claimed that Harris is a liberal version of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

He also claimed it was strange that Harris has not given an interview since President Biden dropped out of the race on July 21, less than a month ago.

Will Trump Debate Harris?

There has been heavy speculation that a Trump-Harris debate might not happen. Trump previously pulled out of pre-planned debates, citing that he intended to debate against Biden and not Harris. Also, Harris has declined to debate on Fox News.

Now, a debate is planned for September after Harris repeatedly taunted: “As the saying goes, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.”

Trump's Plans for the Debate

It’s speculated that Trump will lean into personal attacks and cite what the Biden/Harris presidency did for the economy after he left office.

“I don’t know how she debates. I heard she’s sort of a nasty person but not a good debater, but we’ll see because we’ll be debating her, I guess, in the pretty near future. It’s going to be announced fairly soon, but we’ll be debating her,” Trump said.
