Elon Musk Calls Out Kamala Harris for ‘Lying’ About Major Election Issue

Elon Musk has taken to social media to call out Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly lying about Donald Trump’s stance on a national abortion ban, a contentious issue that has become a focal point in the upcoming election.

The SpaceX founder spoke in reference to a tweet shared by Harris in which she claims a second term with Trump will result in a nationwide ban on abortion. Musk swiftly responded with several notes reiterating Trump’s stance against such a ban, suggesting the vice president intentionally lied in an attempt to sway voters towards Biden.

As the 2024 Presidential race heats up, both parties have begun to take shots at one another, hoping to sway the undecided voters in their direction.

Harris has raised a significant concern, suggesting that a vote for Trump could lead to a national abortion ban if the Republican candidate secures a second term in the Oval Office.

Harris Posts Tweet Aimed at Trump

In an attempt to clearly sway voters in the direction of Joe Biden, Harris took to X (formerly Twitter) this month to post a tweet, suggesting Trump would introduce a nationwide abortion ban should he return to office.

“Donald Trump would ban abortion nationwide. President @JoeBiden and I will do everything in our power to stop him and restore women’s reproductive freedom,” wrote Harris.

Trump Says He Has No Plans to Introduce an Abortion Ban

Despite Harris’ claims, various X users were quick to suggest Trump has made no such claims and even referred to a quote from the former President in April, where he said he’d be against such a ban if re-elected.

While Trump declined to clarify if he’s pro-choice or pro-life, the former president did say he won’t introduce a national ban on abortion as he already “broke” Roe v. Wade.

Trump’s reluctance to introduce a law that would prohibit abortions in the US was further emphasized during his first debate with Biden.

Yet, despite all the information available on Trump’s preference, Harris took it upon herself to post the tweet, which she has since received backlash for, with many people calling it blatant lies, including Tesla founder Elon Musk.

Elon Musk Fires Back at Harris

In response to Harris’ tweet, Musk shared a screenshot of her comments to his own account, alongside various community notes, which reiterated Trump’s stance against a national abortion ban.

The Tesla CEO then wrote: “When will politicians, or at least the intern who runs their account, learn that lying on this platform doesn’t work anymore?”

No National Abortion Ban Forthcoming

Despite being called upon by various Republicans, Trump will not call for a national abortion ban.

“I put three great Supreme Court justices on the court, and they happened to vote in favor of killing Roe v. Wade and moving it back to the states,” said Trump at the first debate with Biden on Thursday. “Now the states are working it out.”

President Biden, on the other hand, has openly admitted his plans to restore Roe v. Wade, should he be elected president again.

“The idea that states are able to do this is a little like saying, ‘We’re going to turn civil rights back to the states, let each state have a different rule,’” Biden argued.

During his time as US President, Trump appointed three Supreme Court Justices who would play a significant role in overturning Roe v. Wade 1973, which led to the legalization of abortion in the US by six votes to three.

Speaking on a national abortion ban, Trump said, “We don’t need it any longer because we broke Roe v. Wade, and we did something that nobody thought was possible. We gave it back to the states, and the states are working very brilliantly in some cases.”

The former president shared his opinion on abortion back in April, stating, “My view is now that we have an abortion where everyone wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both.”

According to the New York Post, Harris’ team shared a statement with media outlet, indicating they still believe Trump will ban abortion if re-elected.
