Realtor Makes Discovery Inside a Home That Brings the Internet to Tears
A realtor took to social media to share a discovery she made within a home that left many on the internet close to tears.
The clip was centered on the poignant story behind a set of paw prints, a cherished memory left behind on a wooden floor. These prints were later saved and given to the home’s former owner as a precious present.
Realtor Shares Homes on Social Media
Caroline Holman is a realtor from North Carolina who shares clips to her TikTok account, @realtoroftheyear, documenting the process of buying and selling homes.
Recently, the esteemed professional was filming the final walkthrough of a home after a sale in Wilmington when she came across several green paw prints dotted around one of the bedrooms and fetched the sellers to find out more about the unusual discovery.
Sellers Shed Light on Paw Prints Found in Bedroom
Upon asking the owners about the story behind the prints, Holman was told the sellers were in the middle of painting the spare bedroom when their dog walked into the paint before spreading prints around the room.
Unfortunately, their beloved pet had since passed, and the sellers couldn’t bring themselves to remove the prints. As a lover of dogs herself, Holman admits her heart “just melted” when she heard of the story, per Newsweek.
Paw Prints Left Behind by a Large Dog
Holman, who works for Nest Realty and The Costin Group, shared details on the paw prints, suggesting a large dog left them behind.
“There were probably seven paw prints in total, and they wrapped around the door, too. I don’t know what kind of dog it was, but it must have been a large breed as they were very spaced out,” she said.
Realtor Comes up With Plan to Save the Paw Prints
Unfortunately, the old flooring in the spare bedroom was beyond repair, and the new owners decided it was best to rip it out and replace it.
However, the savvy realtor came up with a plan shortly after posting the video to her TikTok account aimed at preserving the paw prints.
The New Owners Help Save the Paw Prints
According to Holman, “My buyer thought it was absolutely adorable, and as we’re both huge dog people, we both said we would have done the same thing and left them forever.”
She continued, “I knew the story of the pawprints was not going to be one we could forget. After I shared it on social media, I started getting comments with the idea to save them for the sellers, which was brilliant.”
The Plan to Save the Paw Prints
Holman went on to reveal the new owners decided to ask the flooring crew for a special request in hopes of preserving the memory of the seller’s beloved dog.
“My buyer had the flooring guys save as much as they could, and we’re going to put it together in some form and gift it to the sellers,” Holman said.
It All Worked Out in the End
Speaking on the buyer’s decision to save the paw prints, Holman said it all worked out perfectly as the construction team arrived a day after she initially posted the video.
“I loved the idea to preserve the flooring, and the timing worked out so well because the flooring guys came the same day I posted the video,” she said.
Paw Prints Video Goes Viral
Holman’s heartwarming video, which was first shared on April 23, has since amassed over 800,000 views on her TikTok account.
It has also been close to 100,000. Holman later admitted that she may not have thought about preserving the floor had it not been for the overwhelming reaction to the clip.
Elaborate Plan to Surprise the Sellers
Now, Holman is set to finish up the elaborate plan with the help of the listing agent.
According to the realtor, everyone who took part in preserving the paw prints is excited to present the gift to the home’s former owners.
Holman’s TikTok Flooded With Comments
The video has received hundreds of comments, with many sharing their opinion on how to best preserve the paw prints.
One user wrote, “But why not have them save the tiles and make a frame for the old homeowners.”
TikToker Reveals They Could Never Sell the Home
Others who commented under the video claim they could never sell a home that carried so much sentiment. One comment read, “The way I would never sell my house. I would cancel the contract and move back.”
“I’d never change the flooring! I’d make it KNOWN to not change the flooring to all my kids,” another person added.
