A Christian organization in the United States is making a significant stand by rebelling against an important Conservative ally in the Supreme Court.

Faithful America has called for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to resign after raising several ethical concerns about the conservative figure’s comments. According to the group, he falls short of the standards required of a man in his position and should step down.

Secret Recording of Supreme Court Justice Leaked Online

Alito’s troubles began following a leaked conversation that was later shared online. The short audio clip, where the Justice alleges that America needs to return “to a place of godliness,” has had a profound impact on the public perception of Alito.

Reports suggest the clip was leaked by filmmaker Lauren Windsor, who is said to have secretly recorded Alito during a dinner party. In the wake of the comments, Alito has faced considerable backlash online, with a widespread concern that he is unfit to carry out his judicial duties properly.

Alito Receives Further Criticism

The Supreme Court Justice received further criticism after another comment was shared online.

He allegedly said, “One side or the other is going to win. I mean, there can be a way of working, a way of living together peacefully, but it’s difficult because there are differences in fundamental things that can’t be compromised. So it’s not like you are going to split the difference.”

Alito Adds Fuel to the Fire

As if things weren’t already bad enough for Alito, the public became further infuriated after discovering that Justice reportedly had a Christian nationalist flag and a controversial upside-down American flag flying outside his home.

The Christian nationalist flag is tied to the “Stop the Steal” movement, which claims the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump. Both flags have resulted in many Americans questioning whether Alito is fit to serve as a Supreme Court Justice.

Christian Group Calls for Alito’s Resignation

After hearing Alito’s comments, the Christian group, Faithful America, called for Alito’s resignation and set up a petition to gain support.

“Dear Justice Samuel Alito, As members of the Christian organization Faithful America, we are deeply disappointed by your recent comments at the Supreme Court Historical Society’s annual dinner, agreeing that the United States should move to a place of godliness,” reads one portion of the petition.

Alito Has Violated Constitution, Says Christian Organization

According to Faithful America, Justice Alito’s comments clearly violate the separation of Church and State, alleging the judge’s Christian nationalist stance makes him unfit to sit as a member of the Supreme Court.

“These comments distort Christianity, violate the separation of church and state, and appear to endorse an extra-judicial agenda of Christian nationalism,” they wrote.

Faithful America Appalled by Alito's Decisions

Faithful America finished their statement by suggesting Alito’s association with insurrectionists reveals he is unfit to hold his prestigious position.

The group added, “One of the flags, the ‘Appeal to Heaven,’ is even a symbol of Christian nationalism carried by insurrectionists. You are unfit to serve on our nation’s highest court, and we demand that you immediately resign. Thank you.”

Petition Garners Support Online

Since it went live, over 17,000 people have signed the petition, and that number appears set to continue growing.

Faithful America, a group defined as a “community of Christians putting faith into action for love and social justice,” only set an initial target of 15,000 signatures. After they reached this goal, they decided to increase it to 20,000.

Faithful America Calls Alito's Actions Unconstitutional

The Christian group later updated their petition, adding further comments alleging Alito’s actions violate the American Constitution.

“(Alito’s) extraordinary comments twist our faith, endorse a Christian-nationalist agenda, and violate the Constitutional separation of church and state — and that’s not all. They also come on the heels of the news that Alito’s homes flew two right-wing flags contesting the legitimacy of the 2020 election,” they wrote.

Christian Group Calls for More Signatures

The Christian organization has called upon the help of like-minded Americans, hoping that they can all come together and work towards the common goal of removing Alito from his position.

“This man is far from impartial and cannot remain a justice on our nation’s highest court. As a grassroots movement of Christians, let’s join together to demand that Justice Alito immediately resign,” wrote Faithful America.

Alito Blames Flag Situation on His Wife

Following hefty criticism, Alito released a statement blaming the controversial upside-down American flag spotted at his home on his wife.

“My wife is a private citizen, and she possesses the same First Amendment rights as every other American,” Alito said in a letter sent to members of Congress. “She makes her own decisions, and I have always respected her right to do so.”

No Intention of Stepping Down

While the pressure on Alito continues to grow, the justice reveals he has no plans to step down any time soon.

“I am confident that a reasonable person who is not motivated by political or ideological considerations or a desire to affect the outcome of Supreme Court cases would conclude that the events … do not meet the applicable standard for recusal. I am, therefore, required to reject your request,” said Alito.
